The Car

Built originally for Gary Midwinter in 1993, Mark II Motorsports Escort RS Cosworth has a fine pedigree. Campaigned by Gary in the Motoring News Tarmac Rally championship, the car was sold to Dave Jenkins who promptly won the Wyedean Rally in 1996.

The car was then owned by Paul Shelmerdine who won 2 more events in the car before it was sold to a trader. It was acquired by Westbury based Ford Dealership proprietor Peter Elkins who set about completely refurbishing and upgrading the car to its current spec. Peter owned the car for over 5 years winning amongst other things the Tempest Rallysprint.

In 2007 when Peter bought Stephen Hendy’s Escort WRC, Mark II Motorsport became proud owners of this fantastic machine.

Grp A ESCORT RS COSWORTH
(Regarded as the finest example still being used in Competition)

Bodyshell: Ex - works type specification. Refurbished and modified to Group A spec by Gordon Vincent (ACS).

Engine: 300BHP Mountune Group A spec Cosworth YBT 2.0 litre turbocharged with ALS, Group A exhaust, works turbo with titanium shaft and Quick release, Mountune WRC camshafts and Pectel management systems

Transmission: 4 wheel drive with 6 -speed R&D gearbox.

Suspension: Group A alloy front hubs with compression struts and Group A TCA’s, front and rear Group A anti roll bars. Adjustable Proflex dampers.

Brakes: AP Group A calipers (355 front, 315 rear). Adjustable pedal box.  

Ancillaries: Alloy double skinned fuel cell, Group A wiring loom, pectal engine monitor with telemetry, carbon kevlar internal panels, 18” Compomotive MO alloy wheels, Sparco seats, TRS 3” harnesses.
